Dad just finished his radiation for throat cancer last week. We are now on another journey, prostate cancer. Yesterday, Feb. 9, 2009, he had bone scan and CT testing to determine stage of prostate cancer. He is so strong. We continue to pray for strength, healing and most of all salvation. We will keep you posted of his progress here on this blog.

Dad just started prostate radiation, while mom is scheduled to have surgery (lumpectomy) on her breast Monday May 18th. We are continuing to keep the prayers going and know that God is on control.

March 16th-Monday, dad's follow-up appointment for throat cancer went well. Doctor stated there is some inflamation, and it appears that the radiation worked. However, he would like dad to follow-up with ENT. This is good news. Now decisions can be made about prostate cancer. Dad had a great week, brothers and sisters came from Alabama to see dad and many prayers were sent up for him.

Dad's next appointment is March 16. We will find out if radiation cured throat cancer. This appointment is huge, as it will forecast the treatment for the prostate cancer.
Mother also needs prayer at this time too. Her brother Joe Wekenmen has cancer again, just finished chemo and his kidneys are failing and another mass of cancer was found. We lift him up in prayer too! Please Lord, be with dad, mom, and aunt judy uncle joe during these difficult times. We pray for healing for everyone, including our cousins.. Pray does change things!

News from dad's appointment today was that the cancer is not in his bones, (hooray)!!! The prostate cancer is concentrated in the prostate area. They were given many options, radiation is one, surgery another. However, his follow-up from throat cancer is March 16, if the cancer in throat is gone, then they feel radiation for prostate would be beneficial. If cancer in throat is not gone then surgery to remove the prostate should happen. Dr stated prior to the surgery they would check lymph nodes for cancer. If cancer is in his lymph nodes, no surgery necessary.
We lift him up to God! Despite the cancer, this is good news for now. God Bless my folks in the next few weeks as they make decisions and begin another journey! We love you so very much!!

Called mom this morning bright & early, prayed with her. Doctor appointment is at 10am. We have lifted dad up to the Lord and with hopes he can heal him. Whatever the outcome we know that we are not in control, but the Lord is. Please say a little prayer for dad and mom today, to be with them no matter what the news may be. God Bless!!..

Just an update;
Dad will go back to Urologist March 4 and at that time they will go over test results and review options with mom and dad. We continue to pray for them daily to provide a sense of peace in their hearts to get them through the weeks ahead and today. We love you!
